For our Client – food producer and distributor – we are recruiting the Transport Manager
Purpose: The Transport Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the company's transportation operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective distribution of goods by managing both primary and secondary distribution using the company's own fleet of vehicles combined with external transport services.
This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient distribution of goods, maintaining high service levels, and optimizing transport operations within the FMCG sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Management:
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of the fleet to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintain and manage vehicle tracking systems to monitor fleet performance and utilization.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay up to date with transportation laws and regulations, ensuring all operations comply with legal requirements.
- Ensure the appropriate transport license is held for all operations.
- Maintain accurate transport records and documentation, such as vehicle logs and driver licenses.
Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, and manage drivers and other transport staff.
- Coordinates directly the drivers & transport staff at national level.
- Ensure compliance with regulations related to driving hours, rest times, and safety standards.
Logistics Planning:
- Managing the schedule transport operations using a route planning tool, vehicle allocation, and loading plans.
- Coordinate the link between transport/distribution and warehouse teams, to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods.
Budget Management:
- Manage the transport budget, monitoring expenses and seeking cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare and present reports on transport operations, including KPIs and financial performance.
Customer Service:
- Interface with customers to address any transport-related issues and ensure high levels of service.
- Work closely with Customer Service department to ensure the service levels and meet business needs.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement improvements in transport operations to enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Research and recommend innovative technologies and practices to optimize transport operations.
Qualifications:
- University Degree in technical field
- At least 5 years experience in a similar position, preferable in a FMCG/distribution company
- Proven experience in coordinating large teams & managing projects & budgets
- Experience in managing a fleet of + 100 trucks is highly appreciated
- PC skills: MS Office, ERP, fleet/ routing software, etc
- Good command of English
- Driving licence: B, C category is a plus
